CNC plasma cutting for custom steel parts

Steel parts for your fabrication project

Ask about cutting steel shapes, plates and components for a larger fabrication or repair project. Send a sketch, a dimensioned drawing or a clear photo of the part you need. Include its intended use, material, thickness and quantity so we can review the cutting and any additional fabrication required. Cutting capacity, small features and dimensional requirements must be confirmed for each design.

What to include in a cutting request

A useful request gives us enough information to understand both the shape and its purpose. Please include:

  • Overall dimensions: width, length and the units used on your drawing.
  • Material and thickness: tell us what you need, or ask us to review suitable options for the project.
  • Quantity: one part, several matching pieces or a set of different shapes.
  • Critical features: hole positions, slots, mating parts and dimensions that must fit another component.
  • Next steps: welding, assembly, edge preparation, finish or installation that you want included in the estimate.
  • Location and timing: your city or ZIP code and when you hope to have the parts ready.

If you already have a digital drawing, tell us the file format so compatibility can be checked. You can email the drawing to quote@mundimetal.com. For an initial review, a photo of a dimensioned sketch is also useful.

3D design and drafting before cutting

A reference image communicates an idea, but it may not provide the dimensions needed to fabricate it. MundiMetal also offers 3D design and drafting for fabrication planning. Share the space available, the attachment points and how the finished part will be used. Drafting requirements, deliverables and any design revisions should be included in the agreed scope.

For parts that connect to existing equipment or a structure, provide measurements of the mating surfaces and photos from several angles. Requirements for fit, loading or technical approval need to be established before production. A drawing for fabrication is not a promise of engineering certification.

Cutting and welding in one project

Some requests only need cut parts; others also need welding or assembly. Explain the complete job at the start so the estimate can separate cutting, fabrication, finish and any work at your location. See our custom steel gates and railings or mobile welding service for related work.

CNC routing for compatible materials

We also review CNC routing requests for compatible materials and custom shapes. Routing and plasma cutting are different processes. Identify the material, thickness, shape and intended finish so we can discuss which shop capability fits the job. Available material sizes and tooling must be confirmed before an order is accepted.

Common questions

Do I need a finished CAD drawing?

Send what you have: a sketch, reference image or digital drawing. Include dimensions and intended use. We will identify what needs clarification and whether drafting work should be included.

Can you confirm a price from a photo?

A photo supports the initial review. A cutting quote also needs material, thickness, dimensions, quantity and any finishing or fabrication steps. Final details are confirmed before work begins.

Can the cut parts be welded into an assembly?

Tell us about the full assembly and how it will be used. Cutting, welding, fit-up and finishing can then be reviewed as separate parts of the project scope.
